Episode 15: Reflecting on Getting Reflective & 30 things to leave behind in your 20s – Abdullah interviews Lindsay on her birthday

This episode is a special one. Lindsay’s close friend, Abdullah Mushtaq (he/him), interviews her on her 30th birthday. The interview took place in person, in Lindsay’s apartment in Little Italy, Toronto, Canada, in October 2024.

The episode covers two main topics. The first half focusses on Lindsay’s vision and process for starting Getting Reflective. The pair talk about Lindsay’s inspiration, people and podcasts that inspire her, how she finds her guests, scopes topics for episodes, and ties everything back to the podcast’s theme of unlearning. Abdullah prompts Lindsay to reflect many of the guests she’s hosted in Season 1, so far, including who made her laugh, and who surprised her.

The second half of the episode focusses on Lindsay herself. Lindsay reads a letter that she wrote at 22 years old, to her future self, with express instructions to be opened on her 30th birthday. Lindsay also shares 30 things that she’s intentionally leaving behind in her 20s, with many relatable reflections for listeners to consider in their own contexts.

Abdullah and Lindsay’s beautiful relationship and conversational chemistry shines throughout this episode, making it an easy and heartwarming listen.
